Pet of the month for September goes to this handsome man Neo!
Neo is a 3-year-old Maine Coon. He came in to see Dr Raj for several episodes of vomiting and being off his food. Neo isn’t known for throwing up hairballs or eating things he shouldn’t. Dr Raj decided to give Neo some medications that would help alleviate the vomiting and recommended a bland diet for him. Dr Raj said that if Neo’s condition didn’t improve after 24 hours he would need further investigations.
Unfortunately for Neo, he wasn’t getting any better and still didn’t want to eat. The next day Dr Raj arranged for an abdominal ultrasound and to have Neo’s bloods tested. His bloods came back normal but the abdominal ultrasound showed a 5cm long foreign body lodged in his ileo-caecal junction (part of his intestinal tract) which was causing a blockage.
Dr Raj took him straight into surgery to remove the foreign material. After the surgery Neo was transferred to WAVES for overnight monitoring and care. He is now back home and doing much better. He is a very lucky boy. We would like to thank his family for their support.
