Pet of the month for February 2023 goes to this adorable boy Pi!
Pi came to our vet clinic for his puppy vaccinations, through one of the amazing rescues we work with; Desperate For Love. DFL had his mum surrendered to them heavily pregnant. When he was born, he was born with a deformity of his left front leg.
His new owners were in love the moment they saw him & were prepared to take him on & give him the best life possible. His name Pi came from his mum who thought it fit perfectly, given he had 3.14 legs!
Pi came in for his regular checks & then had to wait till he was 16 weeks before we could amputate that leg, not that the deformity stopped him in any way. He would use it to push off the floor & would even use it to club you. He has such a funny & sweet personality.
His surgery was scheduled & last month he came in to have his leg amputated, he was an absolute champion & his procedure could not have gone any better. Only after recovering a couple hours earlier from his procedure, he was up & running around.
Having his leg amputated was the best thing for him, he will now be able to run around & have the best life without his deformity holding him back. His other front leg will have to be closely monitored as he is going to be a big boy & it’s not supporting all the weight on its own.
His family have done their research to be able to keep his health in peak form & have even joined a FB group so that he can meet up with other tri-pod dogs.
Pi is so lucky to have come into the rescue who covered all the costs for his procedure & to then find the best family possible. We can wait for his next visit to the clinic!
