PET OF THE MONTH- June 2020

Pet of the month for June 2020 is Chayce! Chayce came to visit us at the end of April as he was continously vominting & his mum became extrmely worried. He came in for a check up with Dr Joe who recommended running some bloods to see if we could figure out what was going on. His blood results showed nothing too serious that Dr Joe was worried about- however what he was worried about was a potential foreign body (something stuck in the gastrointestinal tract). Chayce went home after having an antivomiing injection & was to be only fed boiled chicken & rice for the next 3-4 days to settle his stomach. If he doesn’t improve then he was to come back for an ultrasound.

The next day Chayce returned as he still had several vomits during the night. The ultrasound was booked & a couple of hours later it was confirmed that a foreign body was infact the cause if Chayce’s vomiting. Dr Raj took Chayce straight into surgery where he removed a peach seed from his jejunum- he is a very lucky boy as no further damage to his gastro tract was caused. Chayce spent the day in hospital with close monitoring & later that night he went home to be looked after by his mum.

Chayce recovered very well & was back to his normal self within days of the procedure. We want to thank his family for being so good with Chayce & doing everything that Chayce needed.
